At approximately 9:04pm on Christmas night, the town of Key West went dark. There is no electricity, no lights, no music... All we can see are the lights on boats that are battery powered or run by generator. We are writing this passage using our own battery power. If the outage goes on for long, we'll sleep through the night as it's cool and there is no need for air conditioning, and then turn on the generator in the morning. Across the harbor we see candles burning in restaurants, one bar has a generator that appears to have some lights working. All you hear are the sounds of revelers celebrating Christmas night in the dark. Of course, this only makes the moon more brilliant, and the sky more vivid with it's streaks of clouds shimmering in the glow. Signing off in the dark aboard the Suki Sweet II
