We’ve been so excited to share our adventures of the last few days.  Richard’s sons Preston and Trevor came to spend Christmas with us here on the boat in Key West.  It’s been kind of like camping out together, all of us on the boat.  Our second stateroom is filled with our travel gear, clothing and shoes!!!  So the boys have had to accommodate us with the little space we had.  They were great and it didn’t seem to matter a bit, as from the moment they arrived fishing rods were baited and in the water.

Our first day we headed out into Gulf with our wet suits and snorkels.  We swan around the reefs at Sand Key and observed the beautifully colored tropical fish.  It seems that the years of snorkelers docking at Sand Key have taken it’s toll on the coral reef itself as there is not much life left.  We did get to see barracudas, lobsters, parrot fish, snapper, a mackerel and many more.  Trevor and Preston saw a nurse shark.  It was a gorgeous day on the water.

That night we enjoyed a delicious dinner at the A&B Lobster House, where Trevor insisted his meal was the best, I think we were all happy with our choices ;-)  See  photo of us at dinner under Key West Photos.

The next day we headed out for a day of fishing.  Capt. Richard was at the helm when he spotted a blue/green dolphin crash Preston’s bait.  Preston reeled him in, and Trevor assisted in bringing him on board the boat.  We decided to keep it and take it to one of the local fisheries where they will cook your freshly caught fish.  We ere all looking forward to Mahi Mahi for dinner.

Toward the end of the day, Richard joined in on the fishing, but by that time we had run out of bait.  So he decided to use a piece of the Mahi Mahi innards for bait.  While trying to cut the fish, the cutting board and the Mahi Mahi went sailing off the stern of the boat and rapidly descended to the bottom of Gulf.

So enjoy the photo, as we never did get to eat Mahi Mahi for dinner.  Instead, we spent Christmas eve at Café Marquesa which provided a fabulous feast for all.

Thanks to Preston and Trevor, and Cody too, for a terrific time on board the Suki Sweet II.
